Inspiration

I'm thinking about patterns and juxtaposition. I'm trying to shut out the sounds around me and just stick my head into the pool, open my eyes and look around. It's tough. I keep getting thrown out by sounds of overly cheerful electronic toys.

Finding inspiration is going to take time, I know. But patience has never been my strong point in the past. Like most, I am propelled by achievement, progress begets progress. But initiation, well, that's the tough part.

Many of the images in my head, are those that I have seen before.  Indy Etsy-ness has percolated deep and my ideas feel all "done before." In fact, I don't think they were ever my ideas at all... just my subconscious regurgitating  morsels of cool that I found along the way. Most likely in one of my binge computer sessions. Click, click, click until 2am.

What do I love, what calls to me? The form of nature. Seed pods. Flowers. Skeletons. I love to see these forms pressed against mismatching borders and backgrounds, set beside an improbable posing partner. Something dead next to something impossibly alive. Something organic and decomposing next to a delicious pattern or formal border.  I love detail but have no confidence in my ability to draw. I have to find a new way to tap into this detail. A new representation of detail.

I want Chrysanthemums. Big, wild, unruly Chrysanthemums, sprawling out of an architectural border. I want mosaic style drawing to represent rolling hills.

How to get started...
